Beach Blast I: To the First Buoy, and Beyond!

May 2, 2013 (Tallahassee) – The semi-annual Beach Blast Triathlon is known for its quirkiness. Set in Mexico Beach and with the Spring version held on Saturday, April 27, the triathlon offers a “short” course and an “intermediate” course. Those distances are not to be confused with the more traditional “Sprint” and “Olympic” distances. The “short” triathlon lists itself as a .35-mile (560 meters) swim, a 15-mile bike, and a 5K run. Next Meeting: Monday, May 20. Social at 6:30p.m., meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.
May meeting notice: We will hear a brief presentation by Jon Sewell about the Capital City to the Sea Trails Master Plan project. After Mr. Sewell's presentation, we will hear a summary and discussion on the results of a USAT report on fatalities in multi-sport activities, particularly swim deaths in triathlon.
Everyone is invited, including members and non-members, and those contemplating doing their first triathlon in 2013 . . . or some day.
